General Guidelines

Communication is fundamental to what we're working to accomplish as a company and our products.

Being remote-first and often working asynchronously, it's super important to master our communication.

We use several different ways to communicate as certain mechanisms work better for some things than others. Here are some best practices for some of the forms of communication we use:

Google Drive

Documents that aren't primarily text or spreadsheets should be stored on Google Drive. This includes things like graphics, signed contracts, and presentations. The Purpose in Play Google Drive is currently organized to reflect our organization of Notion, i.e. by teams and projects.

Video Conferencing

When holding a meeting with remote participants, here are the tools to use:

• For weekly planning meetings and big meetings, use Google Meet
• For 1-1s or small meetings, use whatever is convenient. Many folks like using Slack Huddle.
• For external meetings you should use Google Meet

Participation and Focus

• If you are attending a meeting, it's because your participation is useful and valued. Please pay attention and engage in meetings that you attend.
• If you aren't up to participating (i.e. active listening, taking notes, engaging with discussion topics), let the meeting organizer know, and either don't attend the meeting or ask that it be rescheduled.
